Table

Mahogany Federal period folding card table, made by Kittinger and attributed to the New York workshop of Duncan Phyfe.

Acanthus carving on central pedestal and legs is based closely on ancient classical design. Clover-leaf top and brass lion-paw feet. When the folding top is closed, the table sits flat against a wall. When open, the two side legs swing to the rear to provide support for the top.

Original is American, circa 1815.
