CW15 Side Chair
H - 38 1/4" W - 22 3/4" D - 16 1/2"

This very rare Kittinger Colonial Williamsburg chippendale dining room side chair was made for just one year in 1937.  Thus, it is seen only in the first catalog of Williamsburg Restoration Reproductions.

As described by Colonial Williamsburg in 1937, the chair is made of solid mahogany and is an authentic copy of an antique in the Governor's Palace at Colonial Williamsburg.

The chair includes detailed hand carving and construction features producing an exact reproduction of the antique. Colonial Williamsburg described the style of the chair in 1937 as that of a "strap pierced splat back" and of the design school of Thomas Chippendale. The design of the back splat showed the "great ingenuity" of the maker. The original of this chair is credited to a New York cabinetmaker and was made about 1770.

This chair should be an outstanding addition to any fine collection of original Colonial Williamsburg reproductions.
